Two Tanks project acquisition sets Boadicea on fully charged drill program
Boadicea Resources has expanded its lithium portfolio with the Two Tanks Project, an advanced, drill ready project that sees Boadicea fully charged in 2023 to make it in the ranks of a discovery explorer.
Boadicea Managing Director Jon Reynolds says the company decided to diversify its commodity portfolio to include a wider range of electric vehicle metals.
“We already had great exposure to nickel and cobalt in the Fraser Range and now we have been expanding to include a number of lithium projects in Western Australia and Queensland. Our recent acquisition is our strongest lithium asset with excellent regional and local potential for lithium bearing pegmatites,” Jon Reynolds says.
Two Tanks is located in the Mt Ida region of Western Australia. Just 18km to the south is the Mt Ida lithium deposit owned by Red Dirt Metals with more than 12.7Mt @ 1.2% LiO2. This project is defining a new region of commercial grade lithium associated with the contact of the copperfield granite which also exists in Boadicea’s Two Tanks tenement.
The Two Tanks tenement is located within an underexplored region of the Mt Ida where pegmatites have been identified within the tenement which is a primary target of Boadicea’s exploration focus.
“What makes Two Tanks so attractive is that St George mining is exploring the adjacent tenement for what appears to be the same set of pegmatites. They are drilling right up to the Two Tanks boundary. Previous drilling by St George has picked up grades of up to 1.8% lithium oxide and this drilling is following up on those results,” Jon Reynolds says.
“Our focus will be on drilling the pegmatites ASAP. We have already submitted the program of works for 21 RC holes and have plans to obtain heritage clearance. We hope to see a drill rig on this most prospective ground within the next quarter. Assay results may take up to 6 – 8 weeks but we will keep the market informed as the drilling advances.  This is our best chance to date of a lithium discovery in an expanding region of Western Australia.”
Jon Reynolds says, since the strategic decision to expand into lithium exploration, Boadicea has added six assets to the portfolio. This has given Boadicea exposure to some of Western Australia’s hottest lithium exploration regions. This includes Bald Hill, Lake Johnston and now the Mt Ida regions.
“All of the areas have demonstrated lithium mineralisation and we have aligned our tenements with some of the more prospective underexplored geology within those regions. The addition of the Two tanks tenement is the most attractive of these projects and we are pushing hard to turn around the initial drill testing,” Jon Reynolds says.
