BOA Resources embarks on biggest drill program in its history
Boadicea Resources Ltd (ASX:BOA) chair and managing director Cath Norman in interviewed by Jonathan Jackson in the Proactive studio to discuss the company’s most extensive drilling campaign in its history with the aim of uncovering major lithium and nickel deposits in Western Australia.
Cath Norman talks about BOA’s strategic pivot towards exploring nickel, lithium and gold, capitalising on Western Australia’s rich mining landscape.
BOA holds 15 strategic tenements across the Lake Johnston, Eastern Goldfields and Fraser Range areas and is set to start drilling at three lithium projects in Lake Johnston and Eastern Goldfields, followed by nickel exploration in Fraser South, near the lucrative Nova-Bollinger mine.
Cath Norman sees 2024 as a transformative year, with BOA fully funded for exploration.
The company’s collaboration with industry giant IGO Ltd underscores its ambition to discover the next big nickel deposit. The company has a revamped board and a prime exploration portfolio and believes it is poised to deliver substantial value to its shareholders.
In the interview Cath Norman shares the company’s exploration activity highlights which you can read below:
The current drilling program is the most extensive drilling campaign in the company’s history. It has started with a planned 22 holes for 2000m at Two Tanks.
Drilling will then proceed to Cat Camp, Bald Hill East, Fraser South.
The new BOA board is focused on discovery.
The company’s new strategy includes a:
- Focus on the jewels in Western Australia within its highly prospective nickel and lithium portfolio
- Focus on southern Western Australia – Mt Ida, Lake Johnston, Eastern Goldfields, Fraser Range
- With a strong focus on nickel and lithium in Western Australia, four non core assets in Queensland were sold off but BOA retained a fully carried working interest.
BOA is one of very few ASX juniors funded for 2024 exploration program.
THE COMPANY’S FOUR MAIN PROJECTS OF FOCUS IN 2024 ARE:
Two Tanks
- Mt Ida region is an emerging lithium province. Pegmatites were sampled at surface at Two Tanks.
- 2023 drilling identified lithium within the pegmatites.
- Results of the 2023 drilling identified the 2024 target areas. Higher grades are likely closer to the margin of Copperfield Granite
Bald Hill East
- Is located adjacent to the Bald Hill mining lease
- BOA has mapped a potential extension to the main mineralised zone in the south west of the tenement
- The Hertiage Agreement has been signed to allow drilling to proceed
Cat Camp
- Geochemical surveying and historical drilling identified two target areas for drilling which are looking highly prospectivity for lithium
- The aim is to identify the prospective nature for lithium mineralisation of pegmatites identified within the historic regional aircore and reverse circulation drilling, primarily targeting nickel.
Fraser South
- Is located on southern edge of the Fraser Range orogenic belt
- The EM Survey identified a large conductive anomaly interpreted to be a potential mineralised magmatic zone (similar to the Nova Bollinger deposit) or a VMS style deposit with potential for Ni, Au, Cu, Zn
- The Snowy’s prospect is planned for drilling in Q3. The heritage and conservation management plans have been submitted
- Fraser South is located near the Nova Bollinger deposit. There is a route to commercialising the project if nickel is found
IGO EXPLORATION OF BOA PROJECTS IN THE FRASER RANGE
- BOA Resources has 12 tenements in the Fraser Range. Six are operated by IGO (BOA is free carried)
- The Symons Hill tenement is adjacent to the Nova mining lease
- Potential for mafic and ultra mafic intrusives housing Nova style Ni-Cu mineralisation
- Hercules prospect is one intrusive mapped by IGO as having an extension into the tenement. It remains undrilled but is very exciting
- At Transline South and Transline North tenements, IGO has completed exploration drilling at the Eggpie and Ballast NE prospects with encouraging results. IGO plans to acquire an EM survey over these prospects to model the potential mineralsation.
Route to commerciality – feedstock for Nova operations and partner in IGO
With 1.5 years remaining of the BOA-IGO agreement, both companies are eager to extract maximum value in the exploration work being undertaken during the remainder term of the agreement.
