BOA appoints Graeme Purcell as managing director as Neds Creek copper push accelerates

BOA Resources Ltd (ASX:BOA) has appointed experienced geologist Graeme Purcell as managing director, positioning the company for its next phase of copper exploration following the transformational acquisition of the Thaduna and Green Dragon copper deposits in Western Australia.
Proactive Investors reports Purcell, who has been on the BOA board since 2021, steps into the role immediately, while Cath Norman will move from managing director and chair to non-executive chair. He brings 30 years of Australian and international exploration experience across gold, base metals and strategic minerals, with previous roles at Plutonic Resources, Homestake Mining, Barrick Gold, Black Fire Minerals and as a consultant.
Purcell’s background spans the full exploration pipeline, from generative and grassroots work through to near-mine and in-mine resource development.
The board changes follow BOA’s move to significantly expand its Neds Creek Copper Project in the Murchison region through the Thaduna and Green Dragon acquisitions.
According to the outgoing MD, BOA’s expanded copper portfolio made it the right time for Purcell to take the helm, citing his exploration and discovery skillset as the company prepares to test the upside across Thaduna, Green Dragon and six high-priority targets at Neds Creek.
Changeover follows copper consolidation
The leadership transition comes as BOA enters what it describes as a new chapter, with the Thaduna and Green Dragon acquisitions strengthening its copper platform in Western Australia and consolidating the broader Neds Creek Project.
Purcell said the acquisitions gave BOA “a much stronger copper platform in Western Australia and a clear pathway for growth”, adding that he looked forward to leading the next stage, including planned drilling at Ricci Lee and work across Thaduna and Green Dragon after completion of the acquisition.
He also acknowledged Norman’s role in resetting BOA’s strategic direction and leading the transaction that transformed the scale and quality of the company’s copper portfolio.
“BOA is entering an exciting new phase. The acquisition of Thaduna and Green Dragon, together with the consolidation of the broader Neds Creek Project, gives the company a much stronger copper platform in Western Australia and a clear pathway for growth.
“I am looking forward to leading BOA through the next stage, including the planned drilling at Ricci Lee and, following completion of the acquisition, the commencement of work across Thaduna and Green Dragon. I would also like to acknowledge Cath’s contribution. She stepped into the Managing Director role at an important time for BOA, reset the Company’s strategic direction and led the transaction that has transformed the scale and quality of our copper portfolio. I am very pleased that BOA will continue to benefit from her experience and leadership as Non-Executive Chair.”
Drilling to begin in July
The immediate focus for BOA is exploration at Neds Creek, where the company plans to begin drilling in July 2026.
The program is expected to target Ricci Lee before broader work begins across Thaduna and Green Dragon, marking the first major operational step under Purcell’s leadership.
BOA will also host an investor webinar today at 11:00am AEST/9:00am AWST to discuss the acquisitions, Neds Creek exploration plans and the board changes. Register for the webinar/conference call at the link below:
