Boadicea welcomes IGO’s diamond drilling program at the Orion Extension
Boadicea Resources Ltd (ASX:BOA) has welcomed IGO Ltd’s (ASX:IGO) planned diamond drilling program at the Orion extension within Boadicea’s Symons Hill licence in Western Australia, scheduled for May-June.
It was a week marked with strong shareholder support for Boadicea Resources when the stock opened at 20.5 cents on 12 April and closed at 27 cents on 16 April, backed up by strong news flow of drilling to be conducted.
Proactive Investors, which has been covering Boadicea news during 2020 and 2021 reported IGO will be testing for extensions from known nickel mineralisation, around 325 metres from previous drilling inside their Nova-Bollinger tenement.
The Orion intrusion has been identified by IGO as one of its highest priority prospects for hosting massive nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide mineralisation.
A hole is planned within Boadicea’s tenement to a depth of around 700 metres to follow the highly prospective Orion intrusion interpreted from 3D seismic data on IGO’s mining lease.
A large MLEM program is also planned for quarter two to test the extent of the Orion intrusive complex for massive sulphide-related conductors.
Three aircore drilling programs are also planned for the current quarter.
Nickel-copper-cobalt exploration potential
Managing director Jon Reynolds said: “It is significant that IGO has prioritised drilling for the extension of the Orion prospect.
“This highlights IGO’s confidence in the nickel-copper-cobalt exploration potential of Orion within BOA’s Symons Hill licence.
“The company is further encouraged by the planned MLEM and aircore drilling at Symons Hill, Transline tenements and the South Plumridge tenement, progressing exploration of BOA’s Fraser Range tenements.”
Results from the drilling are expected in quarter three.
Further exploration activities
A large MLEM program (around 500 stations) is also planned for quarter two to test the extent of the Orion intrusive complex for massive sulphide-related conductors in other BOA tenements, including the Transline (E28/2895 & E28/2888) and South Plumridge tenements (E28/2937).
Additionally, three air core drilling programs are earmarked for quarter two with 95 air core holes on Symons Hill and air core drilling within the Transline South and Transline North tenements.
These activities are funded by IGO under the terms of the IGO – BOA agreement announced in September 2020, which included the conditional sale of Boadicea’s nine exploration licences – including ballot wins in the Fraser Range to IGO.
Under the terms of the agreement IGO has five-year exclusive access and exploration rights for the Fraser Range tenements listed below of the 11 BOA tenements:
- E28/1932: Symons Hill;
- E39/2148: Giles;
- E28/2721: White Knight;
- E28/2849: Transline North;
- E28/2866: Transline South
- E28/2888: Transline West (1);
- E28/2895: Transline West (2);
- E28/2937: South Plumridge; and
- E28/2952: Giles South.
