Boadicea sees outstanding opportunity for new nickel discoveries in Fraser Range

In an interview with Andrew Scott of Proactive Investors, Boadicea Resources Ltd (ASX:BOA)’s Managing Director Jon Reynolds outlines IGO’s current exploration activities on Boadicea licences in the Fraser Range.

Jon Reynolds says Boadicea is highly encouraged by the positive progress of IGO Ltd within the joint venture properties in Western’s Australia’s Fraser Range that has led IGO to intensify exploration activities.

He says consolidation by IGO of historical data with recent exploration activities and drilling have provided confidence to pursue further nickel-copper sulphide exploration work at the Symons Hill licence near the Nova-Bollinger deposit.

Jon Reynolds says, “After the completion of the initial 809m diamond hole, extensive EM survey and air core drilling all within the Symons Hill licence during the previous quarter, IGO has been consolidating all the information to gain a greater understanding of the intrusive geology.

“The diamond drill hole core identified the intrusion is fertile for magmatic nickel-copper sulphides, providing confidence for further exploration work, particularly as the diamond drill hole is interpreted to have only skimmed the north-west margin of this intrusive.

“Additionally, the aircore identified more positive geology that requires additional follow up,” Jon Reynolds says.

IGO has indicated additional drilling into 2022. Current drilling work is winding down due to the peak summer months and high temperatures it is unsafe for teams to spend extended time in the outback. The drill is likely but they are entering the end of the drilling season within the Fraser Range. Drilling is likely to recommence in March.

More detailed work will be undertaken to understand the structural architecture and technical assessment of known intrusions which include Orion (a significant target), Elara, Arcturus and Hercules intrusive targets.

Other exploration activities

The agreement with IGO covers nine tenements with more than 600km2 and a number of already identified targets.

All of these licences are within the highly prospective Fraser range gravity ridge that is the source of the Nova Bollinger nickel mine and recent discoveries of Mawson and Silver Knight. Many of Boadicea’s licences are proximal to the known discoveries.

IGO has previously identified six initial targets based on structural interpretation and airborne geophysics. This has been recently added to with the North Emperor prospect which has become an IGO top priority.

North Emperor and the previously announced Mahi West prospects are approximately 20km due north of the Mawson discovery and an EM survey is scheduled for October.

Other targets, including the ballast eye, will be targeted once completion of Native Title Agreement and heritage surveys are complete.

Significance of results

IGO exploration broadens across the Symons Hill licence with a new target identified at the South Plumridge licence and significant works are planned for other Boadicea licences under IGO exploration.

The recent consolidation of historical data with recent exploration activities and drilling provides significant confidence to IGO to continue to pursue further exploration work at the Symons Hill licence.

“As we hit the first anniversary of the five-year agreement with IGO, the expansion of the exploration activities across almost all of the licences under the agreement is a significant step to the test of the overall potential for nickel sulphides within our highly prospective licences,” Jon Reynolds says.
