In an interview with Proactive Investors reporter Elisha Newell, Boadicea Resources Managing Director Jon Reynolds discusses the importance of the company’s new Snowys Prospect at its Fraser Range South project in Western Australia.
The Snowys Prospect is located in Boadicea Resources 100% owned Fraser South Project in Western Australia’s Fraser Range.
The addition of the high priority Snowys Prospect is seen as a major boost to Boadicea’s exploration plans, with the company aiming to get drilling at the Snowys prospect under way once the necessary planning is complete.
The company believes the target has potential for Nova-style nickel sulphides or volcanogenic massive sulphides (VMS) mineralisation systems.
Jon Reynolds also highlights the 10 additional priority targets identified by Boadicea in the EM survey across the Fraser South and Southern Hills tenements, which give the company plenty of potential exploration prospects for further investigation.
Jon Reynolds says: “This is a significant step for the company with the identification of an EM anomaly that is potentially a massive sulphide target in our 100% owned Fraser South project. Boadicea owns and manages two licences in the Fraser Range. We have completed an EM survey covering parts of both licences, which has identified 11 anomalies. Most importantly, one is highly conductive and is in the range that could represent a massive sulphide source. Our geophysicist estimates the target is approximately 170m deep.
“Massive sulphide deposits are those where the mineralisation is almost completely composed of sulphide minerals. Often these are economic minerals and in the Fraser Range the most notable massive sulphide deposit is the Nova nickel deposit operated by IGO.
“The EM target could also represent a volcanogenic Massive Sulphide deposit, commonly referred to as VMS deposits. Globally, VMS deposits represent a major source of base metal production and they are often polymetallic which increases the value of the deposit.
“Some 22% zinc and 6% of copper is sourced from VMS deposits worldwide.
“IGO discovered a VMS deposit, Adromeda, in 2018. This is located approximately 100km to the north-east, but more importantly it is located in the same geological stratigraphy.
“Boadicea has 11 exploration licences in the Fraser Range covering 836km2. Nine of these licences are managed by IGO under the terms of a five year exclusive exploration agreement completed in October 2020. Boadicea has retained 100% ownership and management of two licences in the southern portion of the Fraser Range. The Snowys prospect is located in Fraser South, which is one of our managed prospect.
“Given the EM signal and the location of the Snowys prospect we are looking to drill the target as soon as possible. We have commenced the drill planning with the delivery of various environmental permits and heritage clearance requirements. This will be an exciting prospect for the company as a massive sulphide target could represent something significant for the company,” Jon Reynolds says.
