Boadicea expands footprint in prolific Paterson Province on application of Koongulla South licence
Proactive Investors reports Boadicea Resources Ltd (ASX:BOA) has expanded its footprint in the Paterson Province of WA to 885 square kilometres following the application of the Koongulla South licence, which will become part of the Koongulla package of tenements close to Rio Tinto Limited’s (ASX:RIO) and Antipa Minerals Ltd‘s (ASX:AZY) exploration tenements.
Tenement E45/5959 is around 10 kilometres to the southeast of the existing BOA Koongulla tenements.
Initial modelling and interpretation of the geophysical data for the Koongulla tenement identified several highly valued features not previously recognised in the open data geophysics assessed by Boadicea in 2020.
Supports excitement for region
Managing director Jon Reynolds said: “The additional of application ground in the Paterson Province supports our excitement for the region for the discovery of large-scale copper-gold deposits.
“Boadicea now has a substantial holding in the region with over 850 square kilometres.
“Exploration will be focused on the BOA discovered Koongulla Dome which is analogous to the world-class Telfer deposit and other significant deposits in the region.”
Koongulla geophysical targets.
The features not previously identified in the data are:
- K1 – Potential intrusive complex;
- K2 – Complex magnetic zone;
- K3 – Structurally complex zone;
- K4 – Interpreted dome structure, referred to as the ‘Koongulla Dome’; and
- K5 – Major Fault/domain break, major basin structure.
A potential northwest-southeast structural trend that is coincident with the Koongulla Dome and other geophysical target was identified from the airborne geophysics completed by BOA in December 2020.
The potential for extension of the interpreted structural zone into Koongulla South tenement area provides sufficient geological support for the application.
Exploration plans
Exploration plans will be focused on advancing the understanding of the Koongulla Dome. An airborne geophysical survey covering all of Koongulla East will be completed in August 2021.
Subject to licence granting and heritage surveys, BOA plans to complete a ground-based gravity survey in the second half of 2021.
Boadicea is continuing to investigate options for drilling the Koongulla Dome in 2021.
BOA’s Koongulla tenements have the potential to become the next major discovery in the region and be a company-maker.
BOA will focus on exploration of the Telfer-look-a-like dome feature, announced on March 12, which is interpreted to be at a drill achievable depth estimated to be between 200 metres to 250 metres, and has the same scale and orientation of the 32 million gold ounces and 1 million tonnes copper Telfer mine of Newcrest Mining Limited (ASX:NCM).
