Boadicea Resources Ltd (ASX:BOA) managing director Jon Reynolds joins Proactiveâs Elisha Newell to discuss how earn-in partner IGO Ltd has picked out a new nickel target during aircore drilling on Boadiceaâs tenements in the northern section of the Fraser Range.
IGOâs extensive exploration program included aircore drilling, geophysical EM survey and analysis of assays from previous drilling. During the program, the company detected anomalous intersections of nickel, copper and cobalt at the Transline tenements. A new conceptual target has also been identified.
Boadicea Managing Director Jon Reynolds says: âWe are very pleased with how the work is progressing within out tenements. There has been significant activity especially in the northern tenements collectively known as Transline.
âThe aircore drilling completed in the previous quarter has returned anomalous nickel, copper and cobalt results over the Ballast Eye target.
âAdditional EM work on a previously unidentified target and further confirmation of a deep drill hole in Symons Hill licence is all very exciting and providing support for a lot of activity in the following months,â Jon Reynolds says.
In the previous quarter 70 airccore holes were completed for 4,268m. The assay results from that drilling most significantly show the Ballast Eye target has returned a number of anomalous assays.
Jon Reynolds says, Ballast Eye looks like a primary target for additional work to determine its potential.
It was originally identified as a target due to the âeyeâ looking feature in the geophysics. It has a similar appearance to the Nova eye feature.
A number of anomalous results were recorded in the Ballast Eye area, including 1m @ 846ppm nickel and 4m @ 236ppm nickel, 145ppm copper and 126ppm cobalt.
âIGO hasnât indicated the next phase of work yet, but this is an obvious target for follow up geophysics. This is early stage but IGO completed a MLEM survey on a previously unidentified target. There are any results yet, but this is all combining to a strong message of significant activity with the Boadicea tenements and a good strong news flow in 2023,â Jon Reynolds says.
The Boadicea team met with the IGO team late last year who reconfirmed that they are planning to drill a >1000m diamond hole within the Symons Hill licence.
âThis is a significant cost and highlights the importance of the Symons Hill licence and the potential for additional nickel close to the Nova mine and plant. The diamond hole is the target, the second of three intrusions known as Hercules. The timing of the hole hasnât been confirmed but likely to be in Q2 2023.
âThere is no doubt that things are moving pretty quickly we look forward to the news from Ballast Eye and Symons Hill projects and they are advanced,â Jon Reynolds says.
