Boadicea hunts for critical minerals in Australia’s east and west
While most companies are winding down in the lead up to Christmas, Boadicea is winding up having started drilling at its Kookaburra Well project in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.
In an interview with Proactive Investors Elisha Newell, Boadicea Managing Director Jon Reynolds says this was a project identified by the company’s geological team as having potential for either carbonatite REEs or even kimberlite style diamonds.
“We completed a heads-of-agreement to get access to the granted licence. We have since completed heritage clearance and an evaluation of the existing geophysics.
“This identified a number of magnetic targets that have never been tested. While the high priority targets are within the granted licence, there are multiple anomalies over a strike length over 21km which we have completed applications over the whole 21km belt.
“Given the size of the belt and number of magnetic anomalies we took the upside potential if any mineralisation is identified as it would represent a major new province in the Leonora district.
Interesting magnetic target
The Leonora district has thrown up some interesting magnetic targets that are being drill tested. Approximately 20km to the west, the Redlings project has drill tested up to 8% total REEs within kimberlites.
“A kimberlite was tested approximately 20km to the north and while not diamondiferous I don’t believe it was analysed for REE,” Jon Reynolds said.
“Our magnetic targets have been identified as very shallow, with an estimated 50m depth so it makes the drilling a low cost exercise to test and of course, if there is mineralisation identified it makes any commercial viability higher.”
Boadicea began RC drilling on 13 December. The drilling is being conducted over a week.
“Given the complex nature of the suite of targeted rock types and complex mineralisation styles we will await assay results before providing any updates. Given we are entering the holiday season we are not expecting results until well into January 2023.
North Queensland update – Hanns Gully
Boadicea continues to add to its lithium portfolio of projects. The company was successful in the ballot for the Ant Hill project in the Lake Johnston district of Western Australia. It is Boadicea’s third lithium project. Hanns Gully was granted early in December, located in the Croydon district of northern Queensland. While the region is best known for its gold production, the Hanns Gully tenement has extensive tin occurrences.
Boadicea is targeting greisen-style lithium mineralisation associated with the tin. This is a significant target style as one of the largest known lithium deposits is the Cinovec deposit in the Czech Republic (European Metals Holdings) which contains an indicated resource of 372.4 Mt of mineralised greisens grading 0.4% Li2O.
“Boadicea’s preliminary work has already identified historic stream sampling, demonstrating anomalous rubidium-lithium across two broad zones within the tenement.
“Our initial work program will be focussed on confirming the presence of anomalous zones and focussing on some potential drill target areas. We will need to wait for the wet season to end so that we can operate safely in the remote area,” Jon Reynolds said.
Boadicea has a very active 2023 year planned with exploration programs on multiple fronts.
With both IGO exploration in the Fraser Range and our own exploration in the EV metals. We are certainly looking forward to testing all of our projects. I would like to take the opportunity to thank our loyal shareholders and wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday season.
